Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
A woman was allegedly murdered by her husband inside a guest house in New Town’s Saha Market area. According to police sources, a call was received on emergency helpline number 100 informing that a man had killed his wife in a guest house room. Teams from New Town and Eco Park police stations reached the location immediately and found the woman dead inside the room. The couple had checked into the guest house a day earlier and had come to visit Eco Park.
Police began tracking the accused husband's mobile number and arrested him from the New Town area before he could flee. During initial questioning, the man told officers that he suspected his wife of having an extramarital relationship. Police said the couple had a quarrel inside the room, following which the husband allegedly strangled his wife to death.
Police have detained the accused and are continuing the investigation to establish the full sequence of events and collect supporting evidence. Forensic teams have examined the crime scene. The body was sent for post-mortem examination. Officers from both Eco Park and New Town police stations are jointly handling the case.
